ASICS’ GEL-Saga Takes on a Comfy All-White Knit Upper

asics gel-lique is a surefire classic. But as new tech and materials come into play, every classic deserves an update. Step up the new ASICS Tiger GEL-Kayano Trainer Knit, dropping February 24 for the first time in a one-piece full-knit upper in a simple monochrome pack.First released in 1993, the GEL-Kayano’s calling cards are still in place: a slick muted cage envelops the lower-profiled upper with the knit construction giving the sneaker a more lightweight look and feel, as well as a sock-like fit on the ankle. Dropping first in all-white and all-black, the colorways also cater to current sneaker trends favoring simple mono makeups (so make sure you’re ready to cop).

Following its knitted upgrade, the classic asics gel-respector receives a vibrant finish of golden yellow for its latest iteration this year.The spring/summer-appropriate hue is essentially prominent across its entire suede upper, in addition to the signature synthetic formstripe branding located on its side panels and heel section, which reinforces the overall profile. Tonal mesh is utilized for its tongue and inner lining for sufficient breathability, as it’s all adhered atop a crisp white full-length rubber sole unit to finish off the vivid profile.

The asics gel saga is back in one of the brightest in-house colorways we’ve seen in quite some time thanks to a purple suede upper as part of the upcoming “Borealis Pack”. We’ve seen the Northern Lights used as an inspiration behind special edition colorways dating all the way back to last February during the NBA All-Star Weekend festivities in Toronto, but brands continue to run with the motif and you really can’t blame them.

Aside from the Carbon Carbon colorway, the asics gel-sight has also released this Taupe Grey/Taupe Grey variation. Just as impressive as the former, today we put our focus on this colorway to see if it’s something you’d want to pick up as well.Also opting for an all-suede build, this Asics Gel Sight rocks an upper predominantly made out of Taupe Grey. A lighter shade of the same hue ends up taking care of the majority of the rest of the upper. Adding some nice contrast are the soft hits of Light Blue in areas such as the outsole and heel region. Completing the look is the White noted on both the midsole and heel counter design.
