The Indianapolis Colts are hoping a new crop of will help them compete for a playoff spot after narrowly mi sing out last year.The nine-player crop is headlined by the first two selections in the draftedge rusher Laiatu Latu and wide receiver Adonai Mitchell. While they will be battling for significant roles, it's likely the rest of the draft cla s will be competing for depth roles and special teams contributions.Though calling a player a "loser" is a bit harsh, it's meant to focus mostly on their stock and potential role with the team. Richardson is working his way back from shoulder surgery that ended his rookie season after just five games. Getting Richardson both protection and weapons was a major objective going into the draft, and the Colts achieved that.Loser: WR Alec PierceThe Colts aren't giving up on Pierce, who enters his third season. But the fact that they brought in Mitchell as direct competition for the X-receiver role means his days as a starter could be numbered. Pierce can still provide value as a depth receiver, but Mitchell's upside is extremely high if he puts it all together. Maybe the added competition will be good for Pierce, but there's a Stephen Weatherly Jersey chance he loses his starting job before the 2024 season is done.Winner:CB Jaylon Jones, Dallis FlowersThe Colts waited until the middle of Day 3 of the draft to add to the cornerback room, and both players project as slot defenders at the NFL level. Both Jones and Flowers appear to be in competition for the starting cornerback role opposite Julius Brents, and that's expected to continue unle s the Colts add a veteran option in free agency.Loser: G Will FriesThe additions of both Bortolini and Goncalves could have an impact on Fries' future with the team. As it stands entering OTAs, Fries should be the starter at right guard, and it's his job to lose. Goncalves mi sed most of the 2023 season and Brett Jones Jersey the pre-draft proce s due to a foot injury, but he should provide some competition for Fries once he gets going.Winner: Tight EndsThe Colts did not add a tight end at all during the draft, and that's huge for the players currently in the room because there was a lot of chatter that Brock Bowers was going to be wearing the horseshoe.
