Attackers have long been drawn to RMM and PSA software platforms, but recent trends are making them much more dangerous.
• Growing reliance and adoption: RMMs are now the operational backbone of the majority of MSPs, having previously been optional efficiency aids. The global RMM market is expected to nearly double in size by the early 2030s, from an estimated $1 billion to $5 billion in 2024. A compromise now has a significantly greater impact than it would have even a few years ago due to the expansion and deeper integration into everyday MSP activities.
• Tool consolidation: A lot of MSPs now combine their RMM with security products, backup solutions, and PSA platforms. Although efficiency is increased, a single point of failure is also created: If you compromise the RMM, you risk compromising everything associated with it.
