At long last, we have mercifully reached the end of rankings season. On Wednesday, Houston Texans players will report to training camp and the 2024 campaign will officially be under way. Houston has as much reason to be bullish about this season as any team in the league. The Texans have a sharp young head coach, the best roster in the league with players under 25, and finally a legitimate star at quarterback.Whatever else may look good about this team, it all depends on C.J. Stroud and his development over the next few years. However, Stroud is already one of the best quarterbacks in the game, and the NFL has no choice but to recognize it. ESPN has just dropped a fresh batch of , coaches and scouts around the league and it comes with an impre sive bit of Camryn Bynum Jersey praise for Stroud, who came in at No. 7 on the list."Stroud appeared on nearly 90% of the ballots, and a few of the voters believe he's top-three already. 'He's as good as anybody, honestly,' a veteran NFC scout said. 'He's got to do it again, but the arm talent combined with taking care of the ball and the ability to proce s was impre sive.'"Apparently Stroud was ranked as high as No. 2 in the league by one anonymous voter. That's some extremely high praise for a quarterback who hadn't even played his first game in the NFL at this time last year.That being said, any top-five ranking is slightly too high for our taste. As of yet we don't believe Stroud can match the ceilings of Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, Joe Burrow and Justin Herbert on their best days. It wouldn't take a whole lot of improvement for Stroud to prove us wrong, though. Stroud is smart, accurate, and just the right mix between aggre sive and cautious.
